Sausage Casserole

Serves 4

This seasoning mix with tomato and herbs transforms sausages, mushrooms and onions into a classic winter warmer. While most kids love sausages, some aren’t so sure about fresh vegetables. But they go down well in this deliciously hearty casserole. As one of our most popular recipes, families have given it a big thumbs up.

Shopping list:

1 sachet Colman’s Sausage Casserole Seasoning Mix

1 tbsp vegetable oil

450g sausages

2 medium onions, sliced

115g mushrooms, sliced

1 red pepper, sliced (optional)

300ml cold water

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180° C , 170° C fan assisted, Gas mark 4.

Step 2: Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the sausages until browned, add the onions and cook for a further 3-4 minutes until softened. Place in an ovenproof casserole dish with the mushrooms and pepper.

Step 3: Blend the contents of the sachet with the water and add to the dish. Cover and cook for 1 hour.

Step 4: Enjoy with creamy mashed potato and seasonal vegetables.


Why not try: Bangers ‘n’ Beans

A tasty twist on this family favourite. Just add a can of baked beans and a dash of Worcestershire or brown sauce for the last 5 minutes of cooking.
