Cheesy Baked Eggs
Adding a dash of this British pantry staple to your Cheesy Baked Eggs, you’ll give them a fiery kick loved by the royals for over 150 years.

  • 4 eggs
  • 50 grams cheddar grated
  • 50 grams butter
  • 2.5 tablespoons flour
  • 100 millilitres milk
  • 1 tablespoon Colman's mustard
  • 2 tablespoons chives finely chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 180c fan.

  2. Spray muffin tin (8 spots) and then line the base with grated cheese. Put in the oven for about 10-12 mins (until base is crispy and golden).

  3. In the meantime, make the sauce. In a pan, melt butter then sprinkle in flour until combined into a paste.

  4. Remove from heat.

  5. Add milk and mustard and whisk together until smooth.

  6. Whisk buttery sauce into 4 eggs.

  7. Remove muffin tin from oven and leave to cool.

  8. Pour egg mixture over the crispy cheese bases and put back into the oven for 15-20 mins.

  9. Serve with a sprinkling of chives.
