A seasoning mix with onion and herbs, which quickly creates a rich, beefy cottage pie the whole family will enjoy.
1 sachet Colman’s Cottage Pie Seasoning Mix
450g lean minced beef
1 large onion, chopped
300ml cold water
3 medium carrots, sliced
160g frozen peas
700g cooked mashed potato
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 200ºC, 190ºC fan assisted, Gas mark 6.
Step 2: Brown the mince and onion in a large pan. Drain off any excess fat.
Step 3: Blend the contents of the sachet with the water and stir into the mince, add the carrots and peas. Bring to the boil stirring continuously, then transfer to an ovenproof casserole dish.
Step 4: Spoon the mashed potato over the mince and bake for 30 minutes.

Follow the steps, but top the cooked mince with a a generous layer of baked beans before covering with mashed potato.
